QUADRATIC EQUATION

A quadratic equation is a polynomial equation of the form:
ax² + bx + c = 0

where a ≠ 0, b, and c are constants, and x is the variable. The solutions, or roots, can be found using the following methods:

  • Factorization
  • Completing the Square
  • Quadratic Formula:

x = (-b ± √(b² – 4ac)) / 2a

The discriminant, Δ = b² – 4ac, determines the nature of the roots:

  1. Two distinct real roots if Δ > 0
  2. One real root if Δ = 0
  3. Two complex roots if Δ < 0
