QUADRATIC EQUATION
A quadratic equation is a polynomial equation of the form:
ax² + bx + c = 0
where a ≠ 0, b, and c are constants, and x is the variable. The solutions, or roots, can be found using the following methods:
- Factorization
- Completing the Square
- Quadratic Formula:
x = (-b ± √(b² – 4ac)) / 2a
The discriminant, Δ = b² – 4ac, determines the nature of the roots:
- Two distinct real roots if Δ > 0
- One real root if Δ = 0
- Two complex roots if Δ < 0
