ACTIVE AND PASSIVE VOICE

Active and Passive Voice are two ways of structuring sentences in English, each emphasizing different elements.

  • Active Voice: The subject performs the action of the verb. It is direct and clear, often preferred for its simplicity and strength.
    • Example: The cat chased the mouse.
  • Passive Voice: The subject receives the action of the verb, often shifting focus to the action or the object of the action. It is useful when the doer is unknown, unimportant, or needs de-emphasis.
    • Example: The mouse was chased by the cat.

To convert between voices, ensure the verb form changes appropriately, and the subject and object swap roles. Both voices are valuable depending on the context and purpose of the communication.
